Additional Pension beyond 80 years

May I have the G.O. No. 223-200-F(Pen) dated 10.5.2012 of Finanace Department(W.B.) ?

Please let me know whether both the service pension and family pension of a retired employee will be enhanced on attaining the age of 80 years? Is there any G.O. ?

Hi Monu. Its a very good question.
Now I am to inform you that on attaining the age of 80 years, only the service pension will be enhanced as per clarification made in a recent G.O. being No. 191 (350)-F (Pen) Dated 16-04-2012.
I shall post that G.O. soon.

M E M O R A N D U M

Sub: A clarification on Additional Quantum of Pension/Family pension to a pensioner who is also a family pensioner.

Additional quantum of pension/family pension has been been extended to pensioners/family pensioners of the State Govt. for the pensioners/ family pensioners of 80 years and above in terms of Memo No. 200-F(Pen) dt. 25.2.2009 and 201-F(Pen) dt. 26. 2. 2009.

Now a question arises whether a pensioner who is also a family pensioner shall be entitled to the enhancement of pension/ family pension for service pension and also for family pension at the rates prescribed in the Memo ibid.

The matter has been reviewed in context of the aforesaid memo and the Governor has been pleased to clarify that where a pensioner is also a family pensioner, in such cases additional quantum pension for attaining the age of 80 years and above shall be extended only for Service pension. Such additional pension shall not be effective in case of family pension.

This clarification is also applicable in case of pensioners/family pensioners of Non-Govt. Educational Institutions, pensioners of P.R. Bodies, Colleges and Universities, etc.
